Primate of UOC: We pray the Lord grants peace, and love overcomes evil

On March 20, 2022, after a prayer service for peace in Ukraine, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry called for love to overcome the malice that took possession of people's hearts, news.church.ua reports.

“Today we prayed at the Divine Liturgy and now we have performed a prayer service for peace in our state, for peace in Ukraine. We ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, we ask the Venerable Fathers Anthony and Theodosius and all Holy Fathers of the Caves so that they beg God for forgiveness of our sins, and that the Lord give us peace, ”said His Beatitude.

According to His Beatitude, the negotiations that have begun between Russia and Ukraine are not easy, but this is the first humane step.

“It is not easy, but this is already the first step, a humane step, when the problems that arise between people are addressed with the help of a competent word. I wish that these negotiations have a good continuation, that they end up with taking reasonable, balanced decisions, and that love defeats the malice that took possession of people's hearts,” said the Primate of the UOC.

“May the Lord bless our land, our government, our army and all our Ukrainian people,” His Beatitude wished.

As the UOJ reported earlier, His Beatitude officiated the Divine Liturgy, prayer service and cross procession at the Kyiv Lavra.
