Synod: UOC has supported and will continue to support defenders of Ukraine
Ukraine will endure difficult trials, retain its statehood, while the Ukrainian Orthodox Church supports and will continue to support the defenders of Ukraine and provide charitable assistance to those in need. This was stated by the members of the Holy Synod at a meeting on May 12, 2022, the Information and Education Department of the UOC reports.
The Statement of the Synod emphasizes that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church fully shares the pain and suffering of the Ukrainian people.
In addition, members of the Holy Synod noted that 14 of the 53 dioceses of the UOC are affected by hostilities. There are more than 3,000 parishes and 62 monasteries on the territory of these dioceses, where 3,500 clergy and almost 2,000 monks and nuns continue to serve even when risking their lives.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Holy Synod called on the President to stop lawlessness against the UOC.
