Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany takes the lead of ROCOR Synod

Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany, as the first deputy chairman of the Holy Synod of Bishops, automatically assumed the position of head of ROCOR. This was reported by Interfax with reference to Archpriest Seraphim Gan, Chief of the Office of the ROCOR Synod of Bishops.

An announcement from the Synod of Bishops has appeared on the website of the Russian Church Abroad, in which it is prescribed that during divine services in ROCOR churches, the name of Metropolitan Mark be commemorated after the name of Patriarch Kirill.

Recall that Metropolitan Hilarion (secular name – Igor Alekseevich Kapral) reposed in the Lord on May 16, 2022 at the age of 75.

Metropolitan Mark will arrive in New York to perform a lity for Metropolitan Hilarion and will hold a Synod meeting, where the time and place of the funeral and burial of the deceased First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad will be determined.

As the UOJ wrote, Metropolitan Mark of Berlin and Germany recalled that there are no “us” and “them” in the Church.
