Head of Macedonian Church says he will ask the Phanar for Tomos
Archbishop Stefan, head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, said that the Ohrid Archdiocese would ask the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the Tomos of Autocephaly, since this is the only Church that has the right to issue such documents in accordance with traditions and canons. This is reported by doxologiainfonews.com with reference to the interview of Archbishop Stefan of Ohrid to the Greek publication To Vima.
Also, the head of the Macedonian Church expects the Tomos of Phanar to be recognized by all Local Orthodox Churches. According to the hierarch, the goal of the Ohrid Archdiocese is to obtain "real autocephaly, which is recognized by everyone."
“The canonical tradition remains in force that only the Ecumenical Patriarchate grants the Tomos of Autocephaly, while other Churches reverently accept it,” asserts the Archbishop of Ohrid.
Recall that on June 5, 2022, Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia presented Archbishop Stefan with the Tomos of Autocephaly of the Macedonian Church.
