Law Department: Only court can decide fate of Kniazhychi monastery
The head of the Law Department of the UOC Boryspil Eparchy, Archpriest Alexei Nosenko, commented on the decision of the Brovary City Council to transfer the monastery in Kniazhychi to the Dumenko structure. Father Alexei's commentary is published on the "Dozor on ‘1 Kozak’” Telegram channel.
"Since 1998, the UOC has been using the land plot in Kniazhychi legally, on the basis of the state act granting the right to use the land plot. Only a court can terminate the right to use the land plot," the head of the Boryspil Eparchy's Law Department said.
He added that the buildings that the Brovary City Council intends to transfer to the OCU are on the balance of the monastery in Knyazhychi. At present, there are no documents that would indicate improper use of the land.
Father Alexei stressed that during military operations in the Brovary district all monks of the Kniazhychi Monastery stayed in the monastery and assisted servicemen and civilians.
Earlier, the Brovary authorities handed over to the OCU the UOC Transfiguration Monastery in Knyazhychi.
As reported, the Protection Church in Trebukhiv was seized with the help and participation of the Brovary mayor.
Following the Brovary authorities' decision on Kniazhytsi Monastery, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary addressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with a request to protect the rights of believers.
