Supporters of OCU seize the temple in Kordelivka village
On October 30, 2022, supporters of the OCU seized the church in honor of the Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica in the village of Kordelivka, Vinnytsia district, Vinnytsia region. This was reported by the press service of the Vinnytsia eparchy.
Officials of the Vinnytsia Regional Council have already carried out an illegal re-registration of the community of the Demetrius Church.
According to the message, local residents and the head of the OCU community, Viktor Borodiy, came to the temple on October 30, 2022 at 7 am. The raiders broke the lock, damaged the front door and prevented the believers from entering their temple and church house, where the personal belongings of the priest and parishioners are kept.
“The deputy of the Kalynivka City Council Serhiy Lomachevsky was also present and contributed to the illegal actions. Another raider seizure of the temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was provoked by the head of the Department for Nationalities and Religions of the Vinnytsia RMA I. Saletsky, who had illegally re-registered the community,” the diocese said.
At the same time, the press service emphasized that the religious community of Kordelivka village, headed by the rector of the church, Archpriest Ioan Pashchenko, did not submit any documents for re-registration, did not want to transfer to another confession, but remained in the bosom of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church under the omophorion of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that on November 1, the Vinnytsia Regional Council considered the appeal of deputies to the Verkhovna Rada demanding to ban the UOC in Ukraine.
