The oldest resident of Ukraine keeps faith in people
"Despite all the hardships and sorrows of a difficult fate, she has preserved in her soul incredible kindness, optimism, love of life and faith in people," the district administration said in a statement.
According to the Book of Records of Ukraine, the country's oldest woman lives in the village of Zhadovo, Semenovka district, Chernigov region. Kristina Nagornaya is 116 years old. On July 1, 2017, the Ukrainian woman will turn 117.
Kristina Avramovna Nagornaya worked as a youth in a collective farm, survived famine, war and hard post-war years.
The Ukrainian woman is only one year younger than the oldest resident of the planet Emma Morano-Martinucci. The Italian is the last living person born before 1900. On November 29, 2017 she will be 118 years old.
