First 10,000 signatures in defense of UOC handed over to Pat. Bartholomew
The first 10,000 appeals by believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were delivered to the secretariat of the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew I in Istanbul.
The faithful ask to protect the canonical Church, wrote Galina Sumenkova on her Facebook page.
Together with the signatures of the UOC faithful, the Patriarch was also sent the Constitution of Ukraine in English, which says that the Church is separated from the state in the country.
On April 19, the Verkhovna Rada supported the initiative of President Petro Poroshenko to address Patriarch Bartholomew with a request to grant the Tomos on autocephaly and the creation of the Single Local Church in Ukraine.
